Argos Down Hawaii-Hilo, Remain Undefeated in Pac West October 24 - The NDNU women's soccer team moved to 6-0-1 in Pac West play with a 2-1 victory over Hawaii-Hilo. The Argos offense controlled the ball for most of the game, compiling 27 shots to only two from the Vulcans. NDNU jumped out early with a goal in the 4th minute to go up 1-0. Morgan King took a long pass from Kristen Orlando and beat Vulcan goalie Kelly Herbst to put the Argos on top. Hawaii-Hilo was able to tie the game in the 26th minute after a NDNU hand ball in the penalty box. Karen Weatherby was able to beat Candice Schrodetzki on the penalty kick and even the game at one apiece. The game remained tied until the 67th minute when Julie Loucks netted the game winning goal from the left side. Schrodetzki made one save for the Argos, while Herbst made 17 saves for the Vulcans. NDNU improved to 9-6-2 on the season and have not been beaten in nine games. The Argos will take on Chaminade on Wednesday for the second game of their Hawaii trip. BOX SCORE
Seniors Lead NDNU Past Hawaii-Hilo October 14 – The Notre Dame de Namur women’s soccer team defeated Hawaii-Hilo 6-0 on Senior Day thanks to a few big performances from those who were honored. The Argos improved to 8-6-2 with the win and remained undefeated in conference play with a 5-0-1 record. Senior Hope Siffert got things started early, scoring the first of her two goals in the 7th minute to put the Argos up 1-0. Three minutes later, senior Kaia Wakamiya scored on an assist from fellow senior Kelli Brakinreed off a corner kick. Sally Olsson added the third and final goal of the half in the 13th minute on a shot from 30 yards that bounced off the crossbar. The second half was much of the same for NDNU as Siffert scored her second goal on another assist from Brakinreed to move the score to 4-0. Heather Toohey would score he first career goal in the 63rd minute followed by Amy Armijo eighth goal on the season just two minutes later. Senior goalie Candice Schrodetzki extended her scoreless streak to 498 minutes as the team recorded its fifth straight shutout. The Argos are off to Hawaii for their final four games starting October 24th. BOX SCORE
NDNU Blanks Chaminade 2-0 October 12 – The Notre Dame de Namur Argonauts remained undefeated in conference play with a 2-0 victory over Chaminade University. The Argos racked up 26 shots and did not allow the Lady Swords to get any shots off. NDNU improved to 7-6-2 on the season and are 4-0-1 in Pac West play. The game moved into the second half scoreless until Hope Siffert took a long pass from Tracy Cicerchi and beat the goalie in the 58th minute. Kelli Brackinreed put the Argos up 2-0 in the 64th minute. She drilled a free kick from 20 yards out off the post and into the net. Candice Schrodetzki and Allie Howarth combined for the team’s sixth shutout of the season, all of which came in the last seven games. Schrodetzki improved her scoreless streak to over 400 minutes. The Argos play their final home game Saturday at 11:00 am against Hawaii-Hilo at Evergreen Valley College. BOX SCORE
Argos and Central Washington Battle to 0-0 Tie October 9 – The Notre Dame de Namur Argonauts defense continued to shutdown their opponents, once again not allowing a goal in a 0-0 double overtime tie against Central Washington. The Argos have not allowed a goal in three games and moved to 6-6-2 on the season. Goalie Candice Schrodetzki extended her streak to over 300 minutes without allowing a goal and recorded her fifth shutout of the season. Schrodetzki made three saves, while her counterpart Amber Easterbrook stopped seven shots and held the Argos scoreless. The Argos tallied 11 shots on the game to only four from the Wildcats. Hope Siffert led all players with four shots while Catherine Ponce and Julie Loucks added two apiece. Alicia Slawson had two shots for Central Washington. The Argos continue Pac West play against Chaminade University on Thursday at Evergreen Valley College at 12:00 pm. BOX SCORE
NDNU Topples BYU Hawaii 1-0 October 7 – The Notre de Namur Argonauts remained undefeated in Pac West play with a 1-0 victory over BYU Hawaii. NDNU improved to 6-6-1 overall and are 3-0-1 in conference games. The Argos were on the attack from the start, tallying 13 shots to just seven from the Seasiders.
NDNU went up in the 48th minute when Yang Zhou corner kick was headed into the net by Shana Chibidakis. The goal was the first allowed by BYU in its last seven games and would prove to be all the Argos would need. Candice Schrodetzki picked up her fourth shutout in the last five games by making six saves. Chibidakis’s goal was her second of the season while Zhou recorded her team leading fifth assist. The Argos continue conference play on Thursday against Chaminade University.
Pair of Late Goals Push Argos Past Hawaii Pacific October 5 – The NDNU women’s soccer team improved to 5-6-1 on the season with a 2-0 victory over Hawaii Pacific. The Argos were on the attack all game, racking up a season high 32 shots including 22 shots on goal. The game stayed scoreless late into the second half before Morghan King took a crossing pass from Kaia Wakamiya in the 83rd minute and put it in the net. Wakamiya would add an insurance goal in the 88th minute to give the Argos a 2-0 win. Candice Schrodetzki made two saves and recorded her third shutout in the last four games. Sea Warriors goalie Michelle Naeole kept her team in the game, coming up with 20 saves on the night. Yang Zhou picked up her team leading fourth assist while Cristina Dito notched her first of the season. NDNU looks to stay undefeated in Pac West play on Saturday against BYU Hawaii at Evergreen Valley College at 5:00 pm. BOX SCORE
Argos Take Pac West Opener 2-0 September 29 – The NDNU women’s soccer team started off Pac West play by shutting out Grand Canyon University 2-0. Amy Armijo scored both goals for the Argos who were on the attack all night long. Armijo’s first goal, on assists from Ashlee Hinojosa and Hope Siffert gave NDNU a 1-0 lead in the 33rd minute. She would score again on an assist from Hinojosa with just 17 seconds left to seal the game. The Argos out shot the Lopes 21-9, with 17 of the shots being on goal. Candice Schrodetzki picked up her second consecutive shutout, making seven saves. Shela Robertson kept the game close for the ‘Lopes, stopping 15 shots. Armijo’s two goals upped her team leading total to seven. The Argos improved to 4-6 on the season and are 1-0 in conference play. NDNU and GCU square off again Sunday afternoon at De Anza College at 1:00 pm. BOX SCORE
NDNU Blanks Westmont, Wins 3-0 September 18 - The Notre Dame de Namur Argonauts jumped out early and never looked back on their way to shutting out Westmont College, 3-0. Candice Schrodetzki made eight saves while earning her first shutout of the season. She also picked up her first assist of the season in the game. The Argos went ahead in the 6th minute on a goal by Julie Loucks off the Schrodetzki assist. Shana Chibidakis put the Argos up 2-0 in the 25th minute scoring on Yang Zhou’s team leading third assist of the year. NDNU added an insurance goal in the second half when Hope Siffert netted her first goal on an assist from Ashlee Hinojoso. The Argos are off until Friday, September 29th, when they host Grand Canyon University. BOX SCORE
NDNU Drops Game 3-1 to San Jose State September 15 - The Notre Dame de Namur Argonauts could not hold off the San Jose State Spartans in a 3-1 defeat Friday night. A pair of first half goals proved to be more than enough for SJSU who dropped the Argos to 2-6 with the loss. Jessica Scott put the Spartans up early on with a goal in the 12th minute. Scott would later assist Nicole Irwin who beat Candice Schrodetzki to make the score 2-0. The Argos cut the lead in half in the 75th minute as Catherine Ponce notched a goal on an assist from Hope Siffert and Amy Armijo. San Jose State would get the score back in the 84th minute on a goal by Jennifer Guadagnolo. BOX SCORE
Argos Down Sunbirds on Five Unanswered Goals September 12 - The NDNU Argonauts erased an early deficit to beat the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds 5-1 and snap a five game skid. The Argos connected on five unanswered goals to close out the game and improve to 2-5 on the season. Ashley Sherr put FPU up in the 4th minute, netting a breakaway goal after a NDNU turnover. The Argos evened the score in the 16th minute on a goal by Amy Armijo off a Kaia Wakamiya pass. The Argos picked up where they left off at the start of the second half. Wakamiya found Ashlee Hinojosa in front of the net to give NDNU a 2-1 in the 47th minute. The Argos would score three more times in the half on goals by Leslie Welch, Sydney Turrubiartes and Armijo second goal of the game. NDNU racked up 18 shots on the game compared to only seven from Fresno Pacific. Freshman Amy Armijo’s two goals give her a team leading five on the season. BOX SCORE
Eagles Beat Argos in 1-0 Contest September 9 - The NDNU Argonauts dropped their fifth staight game with a 1-0 loss to Concordia University (Irvine). The Argos were on the attack most of the game, but could not get a score. Concordia used an early second half goal by Brianna Wahrenbrock to give them the victory. NDNU out shot the Eagles 21 to 14, with 14 of their 21 shots being on goal. However, goalies Jamie Carney and Vanessa Vela did not allow any to get past them. Carney earned the win by making nine second half saves. Candice Schrodetzki made a season high eight saves, but allowed Wahrenbrock's goal in the 51st minute. The Argos best scoring chances came on a pair of Yang Zhou free kicks that hit the crossbar. NDNU is home again on Tuesday to face Fresno Pacific University. BOX SCORE
NDNU Drops Home Opener to #6 Seattle Pacific September 7 - The NDNU Argonauts could not hold off Seattle Pacific's offensive attack, falling in the home opener 2-0. The Falcons scored both goals in the first half to jump ahead early and never look back. Sarah Martinez put SPU up by a goal with a shot from the left wing in the 21at minute. The Falcons did not wait long to tack on another goal, as Kayla Steigemeier beat goalie Candice Schrodetzki in the 28th minute. The Argos could not get their offense rolling, managing only three shots to the Falcons 14. Schrodetzki kept the game close in the second half, making a hand full of spectacular saves. She ended the game with a season high seven saves. NDNU fell to 1-4 on the season as they prepare to host Concordia University on Saturday. The contest will be BOX SCORE
Argos Fall to CSU Stanislaus 4-2 September 1 - NDNU jumped out to an early two goal lead, before Stanislaus answered with four goals. The Argos took a one goal lead after Julie Loucks beat the keeper on a free kick from about 25 yards out in the 23rd minute. NDNU made it 2-0 after a flurry of shots in the 42nd minute resulted in a goal when the ball bounced off of a Stanislaus defender and went into the net. Cherie Early would score the first goal for the Warriors in the 60th minute, cutting the lead in half. Early was not done, assisting on a pair of goals by Marti Teunissen in the 68th and 74th minutes. The final score of the game came on a goal by Alex Vallee in the 84th minute. The loss drops NDNU to 1-3 on the season with their next game scheduled for Thursday against Seattle Pacific University. BOX SCORE
