Grand Canyon Takes 1st Annual NDNU
Invitational, Argos Place 2nd
March 13 – The NDNU Invitational came to an end with the Grand Canyon men’s golf team winning the tournament by three stokes over Notre Dame de Namur. The 54-hole, Invitational played at Poppy Ridge Golf Course in Livermore, California featured an 11-team field. The Antelopes were in front from the beginning, leading after each of the three rounds and finishing with a score of 886.
NDNU finished just behind Grand Canyon, carding an 889 and shooting a tournament best 288 in the second round. CSU Stanislaus (899) took fourth while Sonoma State and CSU San Bernardino finished tied for fourth with a 902.
Sonoma State’s Jarin Todd and Dixie State’s Brady Machin shared medalist honors with a 2-under 214 for the tournament. Kory Storer (NDNU), Blake Parks (Grand Canyon) and Kevin Wentworth (CSU East Bay) finished in a three way tie for third, each shooting a 1-over 217.
Mike Prescott (223) also finished in the top 10 for the Argos while Dean Henry shot the low round of the tournament, firing a 4-under 68 in the second round. Henry (229) finished tied for 20th while Travis Peterson (230) finished 23rd. The Argos recorded a tournament best 54 birdies with Henry tying for the individual best with 13.
Argos Place 6th in CSU Bakersfield Invitational
February 27 - The NDNU men's golf team had a strong showing in their first event of the spring. The team finished sixth at the CSUB Poor Boy Invitational that saw a field of 16 teams play 54 holes. The Argos started off strong with the second best score through 18 holes, but struggled in the final round. The team finished with a eleven-over-par 875, just eight shots back of second place. UCLA took him the team medal, shooting 25-under-par for the tournament.
Travis Peterson finished in the tie for 10th place, shooting one-under-par for the tournament. Kory Storer shot one-over-par to tie for 15th place. The men are off until March 12-13 when they host the 1st Annual Notre Dame de Namur Invitational at Poppy Ridge Golf Course in Livermore, CA. RESULTS

Argos Take Home First Title in School History
October 31 - Travis Peterson and Garrett Baxley’s top ten finishes helped Notre Dame de Namur capture their first ever tournament victory, winning the Mauna Lani Resort/UH Hilo Intercollegiate Championship held at Mauna Lani Golf Course.
The Argos topped the 13-team field in the three round tournament by shooting an 866 (+2) as a team. NDNU finished ahead of five teams that were separated by only two strokes. CSU Stanislaus (289-287-296) and Sonoma State (286-292-294) each shot 872, six shots behind the Argonauts. Hawaii-Hilo (290-298-285) and Cal State Bakersfield (298-290-285) finished one stroke behind them at 873, while CSU San Bernardino shot 874. NDNU found themselves in fourth place after an opening round 293 (+5), but were able to move into third after scoring 287 (-1) in the second round. Still trailing CSU Stanislaus by four strokes and Sonoma State by two, the Argos fired a 286 (-2) to pass both teams.
The freshman duo of Peterson (2nd place) and Baxley (9th place) carried the Argos to victory on the par 72 course. Peterson shot 70 in both the first and second round before finishing up with a 72 to conclude the tournament at 212 (-4). Baxley ended the tournament at 217 (+1) after shooting 74-72-71 in the three rounds. Kory Storer finished 19th (73-72-75=220), while Dean Henry (76-73-73=222) and Mike Prescott (77-75-70) tied for 29th place.
Sonoma State’s Jarin Todd (73-65-70=208) held onto his first-day lead to take medalist honors by four strokes. Central Arkansas’ Matt Montgomery and CSU Bakersfield’s Chris Kwon tied Peterson for second place with 212. The Argos will pick up their season again in March at the UC San Diego Invitational.
