Scholarships and Grants

NDNU graduate scholarships, as well as state programs for students earning teaching credentials, are available. Contact Graduate Admissions or the Office of Student Financing for details and guidance through the application process.

Grants for California Residents
We also suggest going online for more information regarding State of California programs for graduate students.

Cal Grants A and B
Graduate students who received a Cal Grant A or B as undergraduates and who enroll in the Teaching Credential program at NDNU may qualify for one additional year of eligibility under these programs.

Cal Grant “T” Tuition Only
For students in the educational credential programs only. Students need to file Cal Grant T GPA Verification forms and have a complete and accurate FAFSA filed with the Federal Processor by June 1st. The State of California determines eligibility of up to $9,708 per academic year Fall/Spring. Students who had Cal Grants as undergraduates are not eligible for this program and it is subject to state funding.

NDNU Scholarships
Please check with Graduate Admissions for full details on requirements and conditions of the following:

Graduate Presidential Scholarship — Valued at a maximum of $5,600 over two years. Five awarded per year.

Graduate Endowed Scholarship — A one-time, one-semester scholarship valued at $700 is available to continuing students in financial need. Two are awarded in each fall and spring semester.

Nancy Jefferson Scholarship — Covers up to one-half of tuition, and is awarded to women either entering or continuing the MBA program.

Leonard A. Glover Kiwanis Education Scholarship — A $500 award available to new students in the Multiple or Single Subject Credential Program. Applicants must be residents of San Mateo County and plan to teach within the County.

Mascovish-D’artenay Scholarship — A one-time award, usually $500, for students in the Special Education or Multiple Subject Credential Programs, provided every spring.

Graduate Phi Delta Kappa Scholarship — A $300 award for an outstanding student in the last semester of the Multiple or Single Subject Credential Program.

APLE Program — Available to graduates in the Teaching Credential Program. It offers loan cancellation of undergraduate debt for new teachers willing to work in low economic areas designated by the federal government.

Sister Rosemarie Julie Gavin Teacher Education Scholarships — Two $750 awards to new students in the Teacher Credential Program.

Graduate Institutional Scholarship — For 50 percent tuition for one three-unit class per trimester (fall, spring, summer) and renewable each year.

Elaine Cohen Graduate Scholarship — Awarded in the fall to new or continuing graduate students showing strong leadership, this $2,500 scholarship is to be used for tuition.
