Dr. Nusha Askari is Full Professor and Chair of the Clinical Psychology and Gerontology Graduate Department at Notre Dame de Namur University. She specializes in teaching the research trilogy in all programs in the department: Research Methodology, Research Proposal, and Thesis Completion, leading to the Thesis degree requirements in the Master’s degree programs in Clinical Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Marital and Family Therapy, and Clinical Gerontology degrees. She also co-teaches forensic Science with her friend and colleague, Dr. Isabelle Haithcox in the Natural Sciences department to undergraduates at NDNU. Her specializations and training include expertise in the following fields: neuropsychology, cognitive neuroscience, neuropsychiatry, psycholinguistics, forensic psychology, neurophysiology, and geropsychiatry, with special emphasis on language and memory function across the lifespan. She has also served as a research consultant at Stanford University and at Lucille Packard Hospital, where she has conducted studies in psychopharmacology and neuropsychology, as well as research on cognition and aging, with special emphasis on dysfunctional and functional aging as related to the neurophysiology of the brain and psychological impact. Her specialization and postdoctoral studies encompassed work in clinical research, inclusive of aphasia, depression, schizophrenia, with special emphasis and expertise on the neurocognitive and neuropsychological components of Alzheimer’s Disease, as well as cognitive function in children. For a number of years, Dr. Askari has also been involved in training and coaching in organization psychology as well, given her specialization in Organization Psychology from Claremont Graduate University, where she obtained her Doctorate degree in Cognitive Psychology. She maintains Chair status of the San Mateo Chapter of the World Affairs Council, stemming from her international interests and interests in cultural diversity and multilinguality, as well as her social justice and world peace philosophy, consistent with the Mission of Notre Dame de Namur University. Dr. Askari is currently in the process of reviewing chapters for a research methodology book as well as working towards her long-term goal of writing a book of her own.
